Jersey BCS website competition 2011 / 2012


Students are strongly encouraged to build your competition entry with a theme relevant to your school activities. It needs to educate or inform the intended audience. This gives a very open ended scope but some examples might include:

  • Some sort of online community, such as a club site, or area of shared interest
  • A community site possibly linking school with external activities, for example – sports or recycling
  • A revision or support site associated with school work
  • A science, geography or history project or any other subject
  • Improving your school environment, such as building a wild area
  • Staying safe online

Entries should be one of these:

  • Website
  • Digital Animation
  • Design for a mobile phone app

The judges will be looking for high quality content, supported by team working, imagination, good design and ease of use.

Reward for students entering

  • A chance to show you are ready to embrace the exciting world of web technologies and demonstrate how these can deliver new ways of working, playing and improving minds
  • The chance to develop and demonstrate your skills in a closed learning environment
  • Encouragement and external interest to reinforce what you are learning in class
  • Not “just” a GCSE
  • Publicity for your school

Reward, for being selected for the finals

  • Be presented with certificates and valuable prizes for the school and individual students
  • The opportunity to see other peoples’ ideas and meet the other teams

  • End of January 2012
    • Closing date for initial registration of interest
  • Friday 4th May 2012
    • Closing date for submission of entries
  • Beginning June 2012
    • BCS invite finalists/winners to Awards Ceremony
  • End June 2012
    • Final Awards Ceremony
