The Internet of Everything

Currently, there are an estimated 10 to 15 billion things connected to the Internet and this is predicted to grow to 50 billion by 2020.

  • How will this change our lives?
  • What infrastructure will we need?
  • What opportunities are there?

Join us to hear Ian Foddering, Ciscos CTO talk about this exciting future. Click here to view the BBC Newsnight feature about the Internet of everything, featuring Ian.

Ian Foddering (Chief Technology Officer and Technical Director for Cisco in the UK and Ireland)

Ian Foddering is the Chief Technology Officer and Technical Director for Cisco in the UK and Ireland. Together with his technical teams, his key objective is to work with Ciscos Customers and Partners to articulate how Ciscos architectures, solutions and innovation can be applied to drive business transformation.

Ian was also the technical lead spokesperson for Cisco around their role as the Official Network Infrastructure Supporter to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and continues to be a core member of the British Innovation Gateway programme, Ciscos 5 year plan to create a legacy around the Games, driving innovation and entrepreneurship in the UK.

Ian has a passion for technology, and the positive impact it has on society, fervently believing we are still only at the being of what is possible with respect to the power of Internet. To support this, Ian regularly talks about the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) in education and its standing for the long-term sustainability of the industry and the UK, as well as being a governor at the Hackney University Technical College.

After joining Cisco in 1999, Ian has held various roles including Systems Engineer, Systems Engineering Management, Sales Management, Channel Management, and leading The Advance Technology teams.

Prior to joining Cisco in September 1999, Ian spent 4 years at Cogent, the professional services arm of Nortel, working on a number of predominately large Public Sector solutions.

Ian studied Communications Systems Engineering from the University of Portsmouth, and is a Fellow of the IET. He lives, with his family, in Hertfordshire and enjoys participating and watching many different sports, in addition to travelling.

JTs GigaBit Where we are today and moving forward

Around six months into JTs gigabit Jersey project, the project team realised that the project plan was not sufficiently efficient and therefore took time to reposition the project plan to get it back on track.

JT are now in the second year of their major fibre-to-the-home project which has reached the landmark number of 5,000 fibre installations. JTs Chief Relationship Officer, Tim Ringsdore, will talk about the project, where they and the issues they have faced to get where they are and lessons learned.

Tim RingsdoreChief Relationship Officer for the JT Group

Tim joined JT in 2000 as Head of Product Development, which was a new department set up to develop new services ahead of competition. In September 2005 Tim became the Sales and Marketing Director for the JT Group and in 2009 he was appointed Managing Director of the Global Enterprise Division with a mandate to grow new business from outside of the Channel Islands. During his time in this position Tim was responsible for three acquisitions, the latest of which was Worldstone; a London based Managed Services Company, in 2012.

Tim has recently been appointed Chief Relationship Officer for the JT Group.

Tim was educated at St Helier Boys school and after leaving school he worked for at Channel Television for 24 years, working his way up from Cameraman to Head of Production.
