Event Description

The focus of this joint British Computer Society and Chartered Institute of Marketing event is to discuss a subject matter close to the heart of many businesses, namely web site effectiveness. With an exploration of some of the key issues and pressures that these respective professionals face along with some of the underlying reasons as to why these two groups are perceived as being worlds apart in many organisations. The agenda for the event is as follows –

Expect audience participation and a humorous, entertaining and honest look at Marketing and IT personnel in action.

The event includes a three course dinner and wine. The will be a charge of 35 for non-members, and 30 for BCS members. This is a strictly first-come-first-served event and places are limited. BCS members will be able to claim 0.5 points for attending.


David Bowen is a website effectiveness consultant, regular columnist for the FT and one of the most respected commentators and analysts on Internet effectiveness. He is more than qualified to talk about this subject. In 2004, he was named as one of the 100 most influential Britons in the Internet’s first decade and his clients include many of the largest companies in the world. (speaker profile)

Dr Robina Chatham is a visiting Fellow at Cranfield School of Management and a renowned management training consultant. She will focus on how the IT and marketing stereotypes sometimes hinder effective communications. Using a variety of media Dr Chatham will demonstrate why we work the way we do and how we can learn to accommodate each other for improved results! (speaker profile).
